C2C Marketplace

What Is C2C Marketplace Software?

C2C marketplace software is a multi-sided e-commerce platform where users can be both buyer and seller on the same site. Users can list their products or services in minutes, message other users and complete sales through an online payment system.

For ventures that want to build something like a second-hand fashion marketplace, a classifieds site or a person-to-person selling platform, C2C marketplace infrastructure brings membership, listings, products, orders, payments, commissions, shipping and user management under one roof.

What sets the C2C e-commerce model apart is that supply comes from individual sellers rather than registered stores. That makes listing quality, user trust and buyer-seller communication every bit as decisive as catalogue management.

The C2C Marketplace Flow

  1. User

Signs up, sets up a profile and a store.

  2. Product

Lists an item with photos; the item goes into moderation.

  3. Buyer

Reviews the item, saves it to favourites and buys it.

  4. Payment

Payment is taken securely; commission and the seller's share are separated.

  5. Shipping

A shipping label is generated and delivery is tracked end to end.

  6. Rating

The buyer rates the seller, building the seller's trust score.

What is C2C?

C2C is the e-commerce model where individual users sell products and services to each other. The platform is the intermediary; both the person listing the item and the buyer are end users.

C2C vs B2C

On a B2C site the seller is a registered business, and catalogue and stock management take centre stage. On a C2C site the seller is an individual, and listings and negotiation dominate the flow.

The consumer-to-consumer model

In peer-to-peer selling, revenue comes from commission, listing fees or featured placement packages. The platform supports all of these models.

Setup

Build Your Own Marketplace

You don't need to hire a software team to build a marketplace. Go live in four steps on ready marketplace infrastructure: we handle the turnkey setup, you bring the business model.

  1. 1

    Choose your model

Decide whether you want a C2C, B2C, B2B or hybrid marketplace. Seller types and the sign-up flow are configured around that choice.

  2. 2

    Define categories and commissions

Build your category tree and set category-specific fields and commission rates. Listing fees and featured packages are configured here too.

  3. 3

    Connect payments and shipping

Connect your virtual POS, payment provider and carrier accounts. Payment splitting and automatic shipping labels work from day one.

  4. 4

    Go live

Launch on your own domain with a website plus iOS and Android apps. Our team completes the turnkey marketplace setup for you.

Second-Hand & Classifieds

Second-Hand Marketplace and Classified Ads Software

Second-hand marketplace software needs a listing and selling flow that lets users put used items up for sale quickly. On PazaryeriSoft's second-hand marketplace infrastructure a user adds an item in minutes, uploads photos, sets a price and goes live once moderation is passed.

In peer-to-peer selling the real difference is that the deal moves through negotiation. Because offers, messaging and favourites work together, a visitor to a second-hand site sees the item, talks to the seller, sends an offer and completes payment on the same platform once they agree.

Add a product

Publish an item in seconds with category-specific fields.

Multiple photo upload

A sortable image gallery from mobile and web.

Offer system

Send an offer, counter-offer and accept or decline.

Favourites

Follow products and sellers, with alerts when the price drops.

Messaging

Buyer-seller conversations and file sharing inside the platform.

Listing moderation

Draft, awaiting approval, published and rejected states.

Seller Management

Advanced Seller and Store Management

In a multi-vendor marketplace, seller management sets the ceiling on growth. The entire seller lifecycle — from application to payout — runs in one panel, and role-based access control (RBAC) means each seller only ever sees their own store's data.

Seller applications and approval

Seller onboarding forms, document upload and a multi-step approval flow. Products from unapproved sellers never go live.

Seller panel

Product, stock, order, shipping and message management in the seller panel. Sellers can grant access to their own team members.

Store management

Open a store, arrange the storefront, manage store page SEO fields and define store-level campaigns.

Seller verification

The process starts with email verification; identity and phone verification steps are added as project-specific development.

Seller performance tracking

Revenue, order volume, cancellation/return rate and dispatch time reports per seller, with automatic alerts when a threshold is crossed.

Seller payouts

Payouts are calculated after commission and deductions and posted to the seller wallet; payment period and threshold are configurable.

Engagement

Messaging, Offers and User Engagement

In peer-to-peer selling, conversion depends on how easily buyer and seller can talk. Messaging, offers and notifications run in one flow, so users negotiate and close the sale without ever leaving the platform.

Communication

  • Buyer-seller messaging — in-platform conversations with image and file sharing
  • Product Q&A — public questions under the product page with seller answers
  • Conversation history, linked to a ticket when a dispute is raised

Offers and negotiation

  • Offer system — sent, viewed, accepted, rejected and expired states
  • Counter-offers for negotiation; an accepted offer turns straight into an order
  • Per-product minimum offer and the option to close an item to offers

Following and notifications

  • Favourites and seller following — save the items you like
  • Notifications: instant alerts for new messages, new offers and order status
  • Stock alerts — get notified when a sold-out item is back in stock

  • Secure payment infrastructurePayment provider integration and order-level control of the money flow.

Moderation and oversight

  • Product and review moderationA pre-publication approval queue for reviews, with the option to reject and give a reason.

  • Dispute handlingComplaints linked to a product or order through the support ticket system.

  • User reportingA reporting flow that lets users flag suspicious listings and accounts.

  • Prohibited item controlBlocking prohibited items with category-level restrictions and access rules.

  • Audit trailActivity logs that answer who changed which record, and when.

Ratings

Seller Rating and Review System

In peer-to-peer selling it is the rating system that builds trust. Product reviews and review moderation ship as standard; the seller and store rating layer is delivered as project-specific development.

  • Product reviewsPost-purchase ratings and reviews, with review listing and sorting.

  • Review moderationAn approve/reject flow before publication, with reasons for rejection.

  • Seller ratingAn average score across all of a seller's sales, plus badge tiers. (delivered as project-specific development)

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Marketplace Software

Answers to the questions we hear most, from building a C2C marketplace to commissions, payments, shipping and security.

C2C marketplace software is a multi-sided e-commerce platform where users can be both buyer and seller on the same site. Users list their products or services in minutes, message other users and complete sales through an online payment system. PazaryeriSoft lets you manage membership, listings, products, orders, payments, commissions, shipping and users from one place.
In the C2C (consumer to consumer) model the sellers are individual users; selling happens person to person and the flow is listing-driven. In the B2C model the sellers are registered stores, and the classic product catalogue, stock and invoicing processes dominate. PazaryeriSoft supports both models on the same platform — you can even run them together in a single marketplace.
C2C, B2C, B2B, B2B2C and D2C are all supported. Because seller types, commission rules, price lists and payment flows can differ by model, you can run several business models at once on a single marketplace platform.
A second-hand selling site needs product listing, multiple photo upload, a listing approval and moderation flow, buyer-seller messaging, offers and negotiation, favourites and secure payment infrastructure. All of these modules ship as standard with PazaryeriSoft's second-hand marketplace infrastructure.
With classified ads software the user posts a listing and contact usually happens off-platform. With marketplace software, the order, payment, commission and shipping process runs inside the platform. PazaryeriSoft offers both the classifieds and the marketplace flow — you decide which one applies per category.
Yes. The listings infrastructure is not limited to physical goods; with service listings, expert profiles, quote collection and messaging it works as service marketplace software. Category-specific custom fields let you define a different form for each service type.
There is no limit on the number of sellers. You can add unlimited sellers, each with their own admin panel, role-based access control, and commission and finance management.
Your marketplace is installed on your own dedicated server and activated there. Depending on the scope of your package, the remaining work runs in parallel while you enter your data. Average setup times for each marketplace package are listed on the pricing page.
The cost of building a marketplace depends on the modules you choose, whether you need mobile apps, the number of integrations, the scope of custom design, expected traffic capacity and any project-specific development requests. Advanced modules such as verification and escrow are delivered as project-specific development. Share your project and we will quote precisely.
No. You don't need software skills to launch a marketplace site; setup, server configuration and integration connections are handled by our team. You manage categories, commissions and content from the admin panel.
Building a marketplace from scratch usually means 12-24 months and a substantial software team budget. Ready marketplace infrastructure goes live in weeks. PazaryeriSoft sits between the two: a proven core you can customise with project-specific development.
Our packages include a lifetime licence option, so there is no mandatory annual renewal fee. Server, maintenance and support coverage differ by package; the details are listed on the pricing page.
Yes. You can import data in bulk from CSV, Excel, JSON and XML. Products, customers, stock levels and everything else transfer easily with template-based mapping. We can also handle the migration for you.
Yes. Because the front end runs on a headless architecture, you can apply a white label marketplace design, your own brand identity and custom page templates. If your design isn't ready, our UI team can produce it as part of the project.
Yes. You can explore the storefront experience through the demo store and the seller and admin flows through the admin panel, live. Our team can also arrange a walkthrough tailored to your project.
Seller onboarding starts with an application form; the application is reviewed in the admin panel, the required documents are checked, and an approved seller gains access to their own seller panel. Their products do not go live before approval.
The seller panel covers product and listing management, stock, order and return tracking, shipping operations, messaging, commission and payout reports, and store settings. Role-based permissions let a seller give limited access to their own team.
Commission can be defined per category, per seller or per listing. You can use a fixed amount or a percentage, and apply different rates during campaign periods. Commission is calculated automatically on every order and reflected in the seller's payout.
Alongside commission you can define marketplace revenue models such as transaction fees, seller subscription plans, listing fees and premium or featured listing sales. Several revenue models can run at the same time.
For every order the payout is calculated after commission, deductions and any returns, then posted to the seller wallet. Payout periods, payment thresholds and the payment calendar are configured in the admin panel; sellers see their balance and payment history in their own panel.
Product reviews and review moderation ship as standard. Extended rating modules such as seller score, store score and the verified purchase badge are delivered as project-specific development; we agree the delivery plan with you when you request them.
The reporting screens in the admin panel track revenue, order volume, cancellation and return rates, dispatch time and commission contribution per seller. You can wire these metrics into workflows and set automatic alerts for underperforming sellers.
Our marketplace solution supports every payment method. You can offer your customers a complete payment experience with options such as credit card, bank transfer and cash on delivery.
The buyer pays once; the amount is divided automatically into the marketplace commission and the seller's share. Thanks to the sub-merchant structure in payment provider integrations, the seller's share can be transferred straight to their sub-merchant account.
Order-level money flow and payout management ship as standard. A full escrow flow, where funds are held until the buyer confirms, is delivered as project-specific development, depending on the model your payment provider offers.
Our marketplace solution supports every shipping method. With multi-carrier integration each seller can work with their own contracted carrier; barcodes and shipping labels are generated automatically and the tracking number is sent to the buyer.
When the basket contains products from different sellers, the order is split by seller. Each part moves with its own shipment, its own tracking and its own payout calculation, while the buyer sees a single payment and a single order summary.
A return is initiated by the buyer and reviewed by the seller and the marketplace operator. For approved returns the amount is refunded and the commission and payout records are corrected automatically. Every step is traceable in the activity log.
Yes. A native mobile marketplace app for iOS and Android runs on the same platform as the web storefront. It is published to the app stores under your own brand and account, and listing, messaging, offer and payment flows all work on mobile.
Every module is accessible over a REST API. Webhooks let you push order, payment and stock events to external systems, and ERP, CRM, accounting and e-invoicing integrations are built on this API ecosystem.
Yes. On-premise and private cloud deployment are supported; the marketplace can run on your own servers, in your own data centre. This model suits projects with data ownership and enterprise compliance requirements.
The platform runs on a horizontally scalable architecture; a CDN, a caching layer and a Typesense-based search engine keep response times fast under millions of products and listings. Resources can be scaled without downtime as traffic grows.
Yes. Server-rendered indexable pages, schema.org structured data, canonical management, a multilingual URL structure and per-product/category meta title and description fields all ship as standard. SEO-ready marketplace infrastructure is designed for projects targeting organic traffic from day one.
Yes. The storefront works with multiple languages and currencies; content, category and product fields are managed per language. International marketplace projects can define country-level shipping and payment rules.
AI is used for search and recommendations, product description and content generation, category matching and automatic field mapping during bulk imports. The goal is both to cut the time a seller spends listing a product and to help buyers find what they want faster.
Email verification and role-based access control ship as standard. Phone verification (SMS OTP) and identity verification (KYC) modules are delivered as project-specific development; because they are among the most requested items on C2C projects, the delivery plan is agreed during the sales conversation.
The moderation flow puts every listing through draft → awaiting approval → published/rejected; prohibited category and content rules can be defined, and user reporting flags suspicious listings. Automatic fake account and fraud detection is delivered as project-specific development.
Listings and product reviews go into an approval queue before they are published. An administrator can approve, reject with a reason, or ask for changes. You can reduce the moderation load by defining automatic approval rules per category.
Complaints and support requests land in the ticket system, where the requester, the related product or order and the full conversation are visible on one screen. Workflows can raise automatic alerts and suspension rules for sellers who attract repeated complaints.
Every critical action is written to an audit log, so who changed which record, and when, is traceable after the fact. With role-based access control, encrypted communication and the optional on-premise deployment, data ownership stays entirely with you.
